Walter Bellotta
ParticipantHi all,
Can anybody help me, please?
I’m practicing with OpenSees Navigator and I’ve met some problems with Example N° 4.
I wrote the PushOver <OpenSees Input files> and run OpenSees. Then I’ve loaded the <PushOver OpenSees Results>. Next step I’ve followed the procedure <Animate Response>. So far everything s’been Ok and I can see the model deformation developing under the Pushover analysis.
After that I’d like to see the Capacity Curve and I’m running the procedure <Plot Response> by setting X- Axis <DefoShape><Dsp><3> and Y-Axis <DefoShape><Time>.
After <Start> some Error warnings appear like those following.
“ Undefined function or variable makecform”,
“ Error in distinguishable_colors”
“Error in PlotResponses”
“Error while evaluating UIControl Callback”.
Could anybody help me, please? I will appreciate any help.
Many Thanks in advance

i also met some problems with Example N° 4. i download the example and didn’t make any change . when i run opensees, there are some problems as followo Analysis: Gravity

but if i improve the strength of both concrete and steel.all the problems above are solved. while if i reduce the load without change the strength .these problem still exist
i am a beginner. maybe you can explain the reason to meMany Thanks

ParticipantHi Yu,
first of all I apology for my delay but the last week I was really busy and I could not reply.
In order to speak about your question, the problem you met I met too in the same way. I’ve noticed the model <Solution Algorithm Type> is <Newton> algorithm but the warning is referred to < KrylovNewton> that failed. I tried to change the Algorithm Type but always it turns back to KrylovNewton.
When you improve the strength of both concrete and steel you have to run at first Gravity case and then lateral. This way the problem remains.
Anyway in the <Animate Response> you can sees the model deformation developing in the right way while the <Plot Response> show always the problems I’ve reporting.
Keep in touch and let me know if you have any news about Example 4, please.Regards

KeymasterDear Walter,
Thanks for finding this bug. I am currently working on fixing the plotting issue and will post a new version shortly.

KeymasterDear Yu,
The warning messages that you are getting during the analysis are normal. It just means that the user defined analysis script that is being used in this example is doing its job and switching to different analysis options when it encounters convergence problems. The analysis actually is successful and pushes the structure to the maximum predefined roof displacement of 9.5 inches.
If the analysis had actually failed there would have been a message saying that the analysis did indeed fail.December 8, 2018 at 10:32 am #26961mehrshad
Participanthi everyone,
there is problem in plot response.
“ Undefined function or variable makecform”,
“ Error in distinguishable_colors”
“Error in PlotResponses”
“Error while evaluating UIControl Callback”.
Could anybody help me, please?
version 2.5.7(While I have image process toolbox and makecform function. )

ParticipantWhen I run through the MATLAB, It draw plot response. but now, there is this error (One or more output arguments not assigned during call to
“animatedline”), when it want to animate the plot. -
