    Hello all,
I’m admitting that I’m a little rusty on my opensees, but I have been having trouble getting a particular model to run, both in Navigator and without the GUI. I can get everything to work but one final step.
Basic run down of the simplified part of the system where I am encountering problems.
    – start with a two story concecentrically braced frame.
    – replace the brace members with tension only members
    – adjust the connection of the brace members to the centre beam (only the centre beam) so that only the horizontal component of the force is transfered, any vertical component must be taken by the brace above or below the one resisting.

I have tried using equalDOF commands, adding sections on to the beam to create truss only action, holding middle up by tension only members from above. I have not gotten any of these to work.

I am trying to represent a rope running through that would not put vertical loads on the middle diaphragm (just slidding up and down) but would put horizontal resistance.

Recognising this forum isn’t the excat place for this discussion it seems relatively active so I thought I would try my luck. And congradulations on the Navigator – first time I’ve seen it since the first edition and I’m very impressed by the work.

I agree with you,Tom. OpenSees community is the better choice. This forum is mainly for the problems from OSN. From my point of view, you could show the details or troubles when using OSN here so that we could look into it together.

    Best wishes,
